My experience - Faux Locs
Ah yes, there's always that time where we find it necessary to braid our hair - just because we want a fresh look or we're too lazy to deal with our actual hair. But in my case, I've only braided my hair twice, and for the second time, I've have my eyes on faux locs for quite a while.
And there was honestly nothing stopping me from doing it, so I did it!
My first obstacle of course was finding someone in Antigua who could do faux locs (and make it look good too). The first lady recommended to me charged me with $250...excluding the money for the actual braids. Me say awdjyt, wah this woman really a say to me. My mom had the same reaction and found this other woman who only charged $180, which was reasonable. I only needed to buy 3 packs of marley braids, and 2 packs of regular braids.
So the time came and I was pretty skeptical at first - I didn't wanna put them in and they didn't fit me or wouldn't look good. The process only took 4 hours (she was also doing someone else's hair at the same time) and when I looked in the mirror, I was pretty pleased with what I saw! I looked like a real goodaz, me cyah lie. At that time, my hair was awfully S T I F F. When I say stiff, I mean stiff. Stiff as in - not moving at all. Stiff like some of these girls you see at these fetes but anyway.
I didn't know what to expect, so I thought it was supposed to be that way. I took a few pictures of course, and everyone said they were cute. I was really feeling myself..until I got home. Until I got home and my scalp started to feel tight. Until I got home and couldn't sleep at all. It was painful.
I tried putting my hair up in a bun and it wouldn't even move. It wouldn't even bend. I had sticks for hair.

I did a quick search on how to fix stiff faux locs, and ignoring all the lengthy videos, I found an easy method. All I had to do was dip my hair in some hot water, and BOOM. My hair was actually moving. I did this method on two separate days in the same week and my problem was fixed. I could put it up in a bun. I could wrap it around, bend it, flip it, allat. I could finally SLEEP.
Time passed and the braids started to look more natural. Natural to the point where people were complimenting me because they thought it was real. Even if they knew it wasn't real, literally everyone told me to get real locs because they looked so good. I am literally being held at gun point to never take these locs out.
So whenever someone says 'the staler it is the better it looks', just know they're speaking facts. I looked like a full on rasta, deadass. It might have even made me more attractive, because more guys than usual are on my ass smh.
Would I locs frfr? I can't say yes and I can't say no. I love my natural hair, A LOT. I love my puffs, my curls, my twists, allat. I love running my hands through my hair, combing and brushing it. Can I give all of that up and be committed to one hairstyle? It isnt easy to locs either, and it might not even look as good as the faux locs (Ik I'd still rock it e
ither way). Don't know if I'll ever be able to deal with that hair commitment.
Are they heavy? Yes, at times. Having your hair down is cute and all that, but whenever you put it up in a ponytail or a bun, that'll have your head leaning to the side and shit. Mad heavy. To the point it almost put a strain on my neck.
Tip: Always moisturize your scalp and keep it clean! This applies all braids in general, and not just faux locs (duh). I tend to stick to oiling my scalp instead of using grease.
Why? Because oil is soaked up into the roots and runs down each strand of hair inside the braid, while grease really just stays on the scalp and can cause build up after a while. Not only that, but oil is also way more natural and healthy.
GROWTH: Another good thing is that since it's a protective hairstyle, your hair suddenly grows much faster (at least mine does). Or maybe it just feels that way because we can actually see the growth this time. Since putting in these locs, my hair has grown an inch, and still continues to grow.
Yes it may come with challenges but in the end, I rate my faux locs 10/10. Would definitely do again, maybe longer this time.

7 reasons your hair isn't growing!
For some reason, over the last 3 years, everyone has been cutting off their permed hair and has been claiming that they are going back natural. For majority of those people, their hair has been growing back at a fast rate, and it is even healthier than what they had before. So why can't your hair grow?Main reason is because they've gotten rid of all the damaged hair. All the split ends that were dry and brittle, causing the hair to break. I'm not implying that you have to chop your hair, but here are some reasons why your hair might not be growing:
- Your hair is not agreeing with your diet
This is what I usually avoid most when I want my hair to grow, but I'm gonna state it first now. Healthier food = healthier hair. That's right. We gotta ease up on the junk food guys, for the sake of our hair. Foods like egg, avocado, banana, spinach etc, provide proteins, vitamins and minerals that are soooo beneficial to our hair.
Vitamin C strengthens your hair strands and helps to prevent breakage, and Vitamin E helps with blood circulation, therefore influencing hair growth.
- You shampoo too often
You must be wondering, what's so bad about shampoo? Isn't clean hair the best thing for hair growth? Not necessarily. The whole idea of using shampoo is to clean your hair and scalp. Shampooing washes everything out of your hair, including the natural oils that your hair creates. Shampoo is normally followed by conditioning. Why? Because the moisture that has been stripped out of your hair has to be replaced.
I shampoo once every two weeks, or sometimes once a month. Of course, I'd wash strictly using conditioner or mixtures in between.
- Your moisturizers have no moisture
Are you moisturizers still leaving your hair dry? You're using the wrong products. I used to use Cantu all the time, but as time went by, I didn't see the hype about it anymore. It just started to seem more and more artificial to me. I've grown fond of Shea Moisture's moisturizers, as they give my hair a more natural feel, and makes it curly. This is my opinion though, use what works best for you. We seem to forget that the #1 moisturizer is water. Make sure that when you look at the ingredients of a product, water is the first one. I'll write something more detailed about what products I use later.- You use too much products in your hair at once
For some of you, in order to keep your hair soft, you need to use a lot of hair products. This can cause a thick build up, making your hair feel heavy and dirty. You're not allowing your hair to breathe or giving it space to grow. A build up of products can clog your pores and slow hair growth. Its important to at least wash frequently if you use a lot of products.
- You have major breakage and split ends
Your ends have been with you from since you were young, therefore they're old and need the most attention. Are your ends dry and brittle? Can you look at them and see the splits at the end?
Split ends can be caused by a lot of things; heat damage, neglect, dry hair etc.. With split ends, whenever you comb your hair, your hair is easier to fall out.
All you have to do is simply cut them. Easy, right? It's hard for me because I hate taking length of f my hair. Cutting off these unnecessary ends, however, will help your hair grow much faster, as there are no splits to stop it.

- You use a lot of heat in your hair
Heat damages your hair. A lot. It's almost like all the life is being sucked out of your hair stands, and it is. A lot of people don't take heat damage seriously, but excessive heat drains your hair of moisture over time and leaves it dry. If I were you, I'd use heat once in a blue moon. Heat styling makes your hair dehydrated, and soon your hair will just break right off.
- You're under stress
Stress and anxiety can lead to thinning hair and hair loss. Take it easy sis, relax. Don't stress, but just think of how hard you'll slay with your long hair.
And there you have your 7 reasons why your hair isn't growing!

Saving for an iPhone
Ya'll. It's time.
I've been asking my parents to get me an iPhone for years now, and since that ain't getting anywhere..Im gonna have to do this myself.
Soo that being said, I'm gonna start saving up to get an iPhone 7. How? Welllllllll....
My goal is to get at least half of the money by February, then let my dad and mom put together the rest of the money. Then by April, I should have an iPhone in my hands.
An iPhone 7 costs like $649 US (1752 EC) or $1111 US (3000 US). Either way, Im gonna still need money so...
My original goal was to get $1500 per month for 2 months..until I realized that money didn't grow on trees. I had a plan to get 10 dollars per day, but that would only result in 280 per month. 280 * 5 (months) = 1400 (which is close to half of the money).
Although this would have been good, I dont want to wait 5 months to get a phone.
My intent is to have that iPhone during prom, graduation etc... I CAN'T be phoneless at these important times. I need to be snapping 24/7, taking my own pictures and allat.
So, the new goal for me is $1500 EC, which is about $555 US.
This would mean
If in December, I can somehow save 20 dollars per day, then at the end of the month I'd have $620.
In January, my goal is $300
In February, my goal is $500, making a total of $1520!
Even if I only can save $10 per day in December, I'd have $1100. My parents should be proud enough of my saving skills to get me the phone.
Saving money is so hard tho.
I legit spend so much money each day, it's crazy. I eat a lot of food, and food costs money. I drink a lot of juice, and that costs money as well. Each day I take the bus, and that's a whole $2.50.
Soooo

Soooo
- I gotta refrain from spending so much money on food, and make lunch at home.
- Any coins that I find, I gotta snatch those up too.
- Whenever mom goes shopping, I'll be keeping any change.
- I might get a job? (stripper lmfao)
- I'll be constantly asking different family members for money (even though I have)
- I'll do chores for money
- Sell my possessions?
- I MUST NOT SPEND MY SAVINGS.
Lmao I should make a paypal so ya'll can donate😂
At the end of December, I'll write another post to let ya'll know if I've met my 1 month goal. Hopefully all goes well. ✌️
Relationships
Hey guysss
Yeah I know it's been a while. My brother wrecked my laptop so I gotta use my mom's for now.
I wanna talk about a topic that's really been bothering me these days-
Relationships.
A lot of ya'll be wondering why ya'll relationships dont last forever and blah blah
Honestly, many young relationships never last long because they lack communication. Instead of being 100 with each other, they throw shade in statuses and throw mixed signals. Because of this, one can take the wrong idea and jump to false conclusions, therefore causing conflict in the relationship.
Is it really that hard to just tell each other how you feel?
Another thing is that some guys (and some girls) can never be loyal to their gf/bf. I don't understand why they even bother to cheat. If you've lost interest, end the relationship instead of going behind their back.
Imagine you're in love with this girl. You love everything about her and you wanna spend the rest of your life with her. But one day you realize she's becoming more distant from you, and you find out that she's been cheating this whole time. You've been loyal to a player who had you as backup.
Especially those fuckboys who lead you on, only to drop you for someone else. They make you believe that you're their only one, when you're not. You're like their 56th girlfriend for the week.
And tbh, some of yall really just petty asf. It's like you were meant to not be in a relationship at all. Nobody wanna be with an annoying ass person that is immature and handles every situation and disagreement poorly. It's as if you're too young to understand what a relationship is, too young to be in a relationship...or just too dumb. It be your own faults why your 'baby' gotta leave you.

Who am I? - About Me
Hello everyonee💥
I made this blog to share my daily/weekly experiences with you guys, so I thought it'd be best if my first post was one introducing myself. I'm going to try to keep it short.
- My name is Alise Joseph, I am 14 years old, and I'm in the 10th grade.
- I live on an island in the Caribbean.
- I love playing volleyball. Volleyball is the best sport ever, I don't care what anyone else says. I used to play netball and football, but not for more than a month.
- I love to dance.
- I love music...t/rap music, kpop, etc. I basically listen to all genres.
- I don't have any pets, they all died. (oml)
- My favorite colors are blue, purple, dark green, purple, light pink...did I mention purple?
- I love taking photos and having my photos taken.
- I always wanted to have thousands of IG followers.
- When I was younger, I had a dream of becoming a famous singer, dancer, or actress.
- My favorite foods are OREOS, shrimp pasta, chicken pasta, any type of pasta, donuts, pizza, fried chicken, bbq chicken, chicken in general, HAM...the list can go on and on.
For the people in Anu, ya'll should already know what school I go to. I attend the Antigua Girls High School. In spite of all the bad things, I love my school. Secretly hoping I'd get to be headgirl but tbh idk oh well. I'd settle for deputy as well. 😏
To be honest, I have no idea how I'm going to design this blog. Hopefully when you read this, it looks presentable. I shouldn't even be making a blog now.. I have exams in 3/2 weeks and I'm one to procrastinate a lot. Especially when it comes to studying.
Anyway, I said I'd keep it short so I'll end here for now. Be ready for more posts coming soon!
